Ark OS: Huaweis Android-Ersatz.

Huawei is currently struggling in the context of US government sanctions under Trump. The Chinese concern wants to introduce its own alternative operating system for its Smartphones according to previous reports, whereby the name "Ark OS" appeared recently. Now he has also been registered with the German Patent and Trademark Office.

As reported by colleague Caschy thanks to a reader's note, Huawei has recently filed the name "Ark OS" with the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA) as a word mark. Also the word sequence "Huawei Ark OS" has already been registered. The application was made only a few days ago, while the full word mark was also filed on 24 May 2019.

Of course, a trademark application by Huawei does not mean that the Chinese company will actually call its alternative to the officially Google-certified version of Android "Ark OS". However, in recent days there have been repeated mentions of this name, since Huawei also registered the brand name in other regions of the world for protection.

Already in March, Huawei registered menu design for protection.

Already at the end of March, Huawei at the DPMA apparently filed his claim for protection of the design of certain elements of an interface design. In a whole series of patents, screenshots of the menus for handling apps installed on a smartphone can be seen at the DPMA. These differ significantly in the user guidance of what is displayed on current Android smartphones from Huawei in the same area.
